Testing Guide

Testing The Controller/s

There are 3 tests to confirm the controller functionality:

  • 1. Eco Mode Test

Set the car to Eco / comfort mode to close the exhaust valves.

    -

Once valves are visually confirmed to be closed, try the remote ON button.

    -

Will only work once you see the valves are closed.

  • 2. Click Test

Put your ear to the controller, when pressing the ON and OFF buttons, you will hear a click sound for each button press.

    -

You may need to keep the car's ignition on only without the motor running if you cannot hear the clicking.

  • 3. Sound Test

Drive the car at a constant steady speed and gear (such as a highway) in it's quietest mode .

    -

Then press the controller ON and OFF buttons to hear the difference in exhaust note as the valves open and close.

See more details for each test below...

1. Eco Mode Test

1. Power on your car
- Wait for it to fully warm up and for the idle RPM to drop to it's normal level.

2. Set the drive mode to Eco / Comfort / turn off exhaust switch button.
- The goal is to set the car to the quietest mode where it closes the valves.

3. Visually confirm the valves are closed.
- Using a torch look inside the exhaust to see the valves are closed.
- If they are not visually confirmed to be closed, the test cannot be verified.
- Do not proceed to step 4 until you know the valves are closed.

4. Use the controller remote:
- Press the ON ( ∿ ) button - the valves should open.
- Press the OFF () button - the valves will return back to normal / car control (closed).

Notes:

If the valves are already open, the controllers will switch between:
1. ON - valves stay fully open
2. OFF - valves return to normal - still open as set and controlled by the car.

Some cars may require a signal from the car to regain control of the valves. This happens frequently while driving.

For Mercedes-Benz models as noted on product page:
- there is a 5 second delay until the valves open after pressing the controller "ON" button
- the valves require a throttle input to close again after pressing the "off" button*(more info)

2. Click Test

1. Power on your car - just ignition only

2. Place ear next to controller

3. Press ON and OFF buttons on remote
- You will hear a quiet click from the controller for each button press.

4. No click sound?
- Repeat steps again with the car fully powered on.

3. Sound Test

If you cannot see your valves from inside the exhaust.

1. Power on you car
- Wait for it fully warm up

2. Set the car to its quietest mode (eco / comfort)

3. Drive the car
- at a constant steady speed and gear (such as a highway)
- making sure the car has its valves closed

4. Switch ON and OFF buttons
- Listen for the sound difference in exhaust note as the valves open and close.
- For Mercedes-Benz models (wait 5 seconds after pressing button).

For Some Mercedes-Benz Models

For certain Mercedes-Benz models *as noted on the product page*, the controllers works slightly differently:

  1. The controller takes 5 seconds for the valves to open after pressing the controller on button.
  2. The valves requires a new signal from the car to close after turning the controller off.Either from changing the drive modes or throttle input. If you blip the accelerator, the car will send a new signal to the actuators and the valves will close and return back to normal. But while driving the signals are sent so frequently that as soon as you press the off button, the car will regain control of the valves right away.
