Troubleshooting Guide

Quick facts

Valves not moving?

If the car has the valves open already when the controller is OFF, they will not move when the controller is switched ON.

The controller will keep them open when ON.

When OFF, the car is in control again, and the valves will still be open.

Start-up / memory

The controllers return to OFF by default when the car is powered off when the car removes power to the actuators (FAQ).

This means on start-up, the controller will be OFF and the car will have full control of the valves. The valve function will be the same as if the controller was not installed.

Remote LED light

The remote will show a red light when pressing either button.

If it does not, the batteries will need to be replaced.

Difference in sport / M / race / loud mode

Even in these modes the valves are not not always open. The valves close in certain RPMs, throttle positions, speeds, gears etc.

The valves can be open while the car is stationary in the "loud" modes, however as you drive they close.

The controller will prevent the valves from closing.

Error / Check Engine Light (CEL)

If the car is not fully powered off during the installation process it may store an error or create a CEL (FAQ).

Mercedes-Benz models

For certain Mercedes-Benz models *as noted on the product page*, the controllers works slightly differently:

1. The controller takes 5 seconds for the valves to open after pressing the controller on button.

2. The valves requires a new signal from the car to close after turning the controller off.
Either from changing the drive modes or throttle input.

Troubleshooting Steps

Make sure the valve/s are CLOSED to begin.

  • 1. Check install

First thing is to double check the controllers are fully connected with the locking tabs pushed in.

    -

If they are loose and not clicked in they can lose connection or let water in and damage them.

  • 2. Remote

If the red light on the remote does not show when pressing either button.

    -

Try the remote right next to the controllers to check if the batteries are low and is a low power signal issue.

    -

You will need to replace the batteries.

  • 3. If BOTH valves do not open

Then it is most likely the remote.

    -

The controllers work independently, so it is very unlikely both to not work.

    -

Please follow the Controller Check Steps below:

  • 4. If ONE valve does not open

But the other one does, then the controller can be the source.

    -

    Review Controller Check Steps below:

  • 5. Inspect for damage

Inspect the controller units for damage, including the wires and connectors.

  • 1. Check Connection

Make sure the connectors are fully seated with the locking tabs pushed in.

  • 2. Check Actuator

With the controller OFF, the car will open and close the valve when changing drive modes etc.

    -

Remove the controller and check if the valve opens and closes.

    -

Reinstall controller and check again while it is OFF.

  • 3. If valve does not move

It means the controller is not connected properly, please check again.

    -

Or there is an another problem with the valve / actuator (not the controller) that needs to be sorted first.

  • 4. Valve does move when OFF

Then the controller could be the problem.

    -

Swap the controller to the other side and test again.

    -

If the problem carries over then it is the controller - please fill out the Warranty Claim Form here.

    -

If it does not carry over, then the valve / actuator is the problem.
